Ghost of a Good Thing by Dashboard Confessional (87) - DC is one of those bands that I enjoy but damned if I know why. The leader singer, Christopher Carrabba has such a high pitched voice that is almost hard to listen to. In spite of this fact, this is a good song. It is full of raw pain that comes from chasing something that is gone. Anyone who has ever had their heart broken understands the compulsion to believe anything that "the one" says and it usually leads to further misery. "Just bend the pieces 'til they fit indeed."
(WOW...the shuffle mix is not doing anything to improve my mood.)
Do You Know? by Enrique Iglesias (180) - So this song is not meant to be funny...but damned if it doesn't make me laugh every time I hear it. I think that it is one those "Wow that would suck if it happened to me" type songs but because it isn't happened to you...you laugh. It probably isn't nice or morally correct to laugh...but it is kind of funny. Or maybe it is because when I first heard it I turned around at my desk and told Dino that it really would suck to be the last one to know the locks on the doors have changed. Not knowing what I was talking about, he hesitantly agreed and from there we imagined coming home and finding said changed locks and then realizing that your incredibly cheap LT has already purchased your furniture from Goodwill, which of course is where the evil EX disposed of it. Maybe you'd have to be there to see the humor. Nevertheless, I laugh every time I hear this song and I think of my buddy Dino. Dino sure is funny.
Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand (177) - This is one of the best songs ever. It is so awesome. I have been pulled over twice while listening to this song which should vouch for its greatness. (Avoided speeding tickets both times BTW.) I can't say anything bad about this song...because it is so freakin' awesome. Just when you think that it can't get any better...the brilliant minds at Video Mods managed to take it to another level. It was almost too much greatness for one single moment. Greatest YouTube Moment ever!

Being that I am still super pissed off at myself at the moment...let's keep going!
All I Want by The Offspring (87) - Every time I hear The Offspring I wonder why I don't listen to them more often. This song reminds me of football...I think maybe because it was used in Varsity Blues but not entirely sure about that. I think the reason that I like this song is because it is great song to rock out to when you are pissed off at "Da Man". I'm not mad at "Da Man" or anyone but myself really but it is making me feel better to listen to this. Dexter really is an awesome vocalist.
Deep Inside of You by Third Eye Blind (68) - Whatever happened to Third Eye Blind? There is only one other person I've ever met who liked them as much as I do and that is my friend Greenan. We used to spend many a mid-watch discussing their lyrics and this one that we spent hours on. After many debates, we concluded that in spite of the obvious sexual innuendo of the song, it actually has nothing to do with sex. Deep Inside of You is a purely emotional reference and that is what makes it such a sexy song. Which is not to say that Third Eye Blind doesn't sing about sexy, as most of their songs are incredibly naughty and most people are none the wiser.
Happy Days by Pratt and McClain (142) - I don't care who you are...you can't be in a bad mood while listening to this song. OK so most people think of the TV show Happy Days when they hear this song and I am no exception. I seem to remember on the rare afternoons when my father didn't work late and I didn't have practice we would sometimes watch Happy Days reruns. But those were very rare moments so I quickly switch back to memories of the Soda Pop Sock Hop that we had during junior year. I had so much running around in my little poodle skirt and dancing like a dork. I remember the night ended with this song and it is great memory.
I am still pissed off but slightly less so and that is probably as good as it is going to get. I am sure that tomorrow will be a little bit better and hopefully by Wednesday night I will be back to my goofy self. It just sucks to work so hard and still fail. I am reminded of a Homer Simpson quote that seems to fit my mood so let's end with that "You tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is never try."
The Offspring kicks ass. I am not sure about the rest of the ones you blogged about.
ReplyDeleteWhat put you in a such a bad mood anyway?
You are too strong to fail. Keep your chin up Millie
ReplyDeleteI've never found someone that likes Third Eye Blind as much as I do.
ReplyDeleteI've lost hundreds of hours reading and listening to their lyrics.
I read your entry and needed to say hi.
